Tumorboard
At the Visceral Oncology Center of Magdeburg University Hospital, an interdisciplinary tumor conference is held several times a week. Each individual case of disease is analyzed and discussed by specialists from all areas. In an interdisciplinary manner, the best concept for examinations, therapy and aftercare is determined for each patient individually and in accordance with the guidelines, taking into account histopathological and molecular diagnostic results.
Surgical removal of the tumor is at the center of therapy. The most modern internationally recognized minimally invasive and open techniques are used as standard. For colorectal cancer, the so-called "complete mesocolic excision" (CME) should be mentioned here. This has been shown to improve overall survival and the recurrence rate. The surgical team of the colorectal center is one of the co-founders of this surgical technique (CME). Depending on tumor stage, tumor location and risk factors, additional treatments radiation and chemotherapy are recommended.
In our special consultation hours, we offer our patients individualized tumor aftercare in cooperation with the Clinic for Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectiology and with the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Highly qualified stomatherapeutic care with outpatient connection (for patients of the Intestinal Center) and the offer of psycho-oncological support complete our range of services.

For a second opinion, the interdisciplinary tumor board is available to our external colleagues and patients as a platform at any time. Registration can be made daily by telephone, mail or e-mail:
