Who We Are

As a surgical competence center, the medical and nursing staff of the clinic offer the inhabitants of the greater Magdeburg/Saxony-Anhalt area as well as beyond the state borders a broad spectrum of surgical care. The profile of surgical specialization fields (as indicated in the clinic name) offers both the outpatient and inpatient areas with the highest level of treatment.

With 97 beds on 3 wards, including a surgical intensive care unit, as well as numerous special outpatient clinics, we guarantee individual patient care as a motivated, highly qualified staff of a maximum and highly specialized care clinic with modern medical and technical equipment - the patient is the focus of our clinical services.

The combination of research and teaching as a university hospital with the care of our patients has an extraordinarily high priority for us. This is a constant challenge in order to ensure a high degree of scientific excellence in accordance with recommended therapy standards and guidelines, and in particular the incorporation of practice-relevant, medically proven findings into daily surgical practice.

An important aspect of our work is the close cooperation with other departments, colleagues in private practice, outpatient care services and rehabilitation facilities as well as national partners and international colleagues for optimal patient care and a beneficial scientific exchange.

 Our actions are determined by the pursuit of patient and employee satisfaction, medical quality and economic efficiency in addition to the medical success of treatment.

Our Patients

The patient takes a central role in the actions of the clinic staff.

Regardless of gender, social affiliation, ethnic group or religion, we respect our patients as partners in a trusting doctor-nurse-patient relationship and respect their inviolable dignity. We respect their wishes and concerns when drawing up an individual treatment concept.

Both the patient and his or her relatives are involved in the treatment process and decision-making by providing information and advice wherever possible. A qualified, dedicated team is available to care for our patients at all levels of medical care. An important goal is to restore, maintain and promote recovery, prolongation of life, adequate quality of life and independence of our patients as well as to achieve social and professional reintegration through qualified medical-therapeutic, nursing and rehabilitative measures.

What We Do

Through comprehensive information, consultation and training, the patient is to be actively involved in his therapeutically determined recovery process and the prophylactic maintenance of his health. We are guided not only by medical and nursing quality standards, but also by the individual goals and wishes of each patient. A friendly, open-minded, respectful and helpful approach to patients is an essential aspect of our daily work. Mutual respect and understanding of each other's work in collegial internal communication and tolerant teamwork as well as factual, timely and comprehensive information flow under the principle of trust, respect and friendliness within the clinic and between the other departments are important to us.

The main focus is on creating a work climate of mutual trust that promotes performance and is essentially determined by the employees' identification with their clinic and the respective work environment. This is seen as the basis for a willingness to perform, team spirit, commitment, flexibility and a sense of responsibility that extends across all levels. Recognition and appreciation of committed employees are extremely important.

Support for training and further education as well as the targeted promotion of our employees' skills and knowledge have high priority. We want to improve the volume and range of services through continuous quality management, which is supported by all employees - individually as well as according to binding guidelines and treatment paths, both internally and transparently to the outside.
