UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT FOR ANAESTHESIOLOGY AND INTENSIVE CARE MEDICINE

Patient Information: Emergency Medicine

How do I get help in an emergency?

In the event of sudden illnesses such as colds or diarrhea, you can contact the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians’ emergency hotline outside of your family doctor’s office hours: 116117.

If you are mobile enough, you can visit the emergency clinic of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians at the University Hospital (Leipziger Str. 44) here in Magdeburg until 10:00 PM.

In the event of an imminent or existing life-threatening situation (serious traffic accident with injuries, acute medical conditions such as a heart attack or stroke), please contact the emergency dispatch center by dialing 112. They will determine which emergency response unit to send to you. In life-threatening situations, in addition to an ambulance staffed by trained personnel, an emergency physician response vehicle will also be dispatched to the scene.

Information for relatives of emergency patients

As a rule, relatives are not permitted to accompany patients in the ambulance. Exceptions apply to minors. If one of your relatives has been admitted to the Central Emergency Department of the University Hospital, you can ask the switchboard to connect you by calling 0391-67-01 and inquire about their current condition.
